Hey guys just wondering if anyone knows how the dump would be done on the 4K and 5k iMac models...as in are the efi chips soic 8 clip compatible or do the motherboards have the header for the easy flash connector...or none of the above!?! Lol

I don't have one in particular Cygnus, was just wondering if it was a 'known' on the newer iMacs or if anyone had any dealings with a new model...just me being curious lol
i unlocked already a few iMac 5k and 4k models and i can tell you that there is no header and its a bga chip so no soic 8 clip compatible. We have to solder on that model...
That'll be bad news for many of us...removing, reading and replacing a BGA chip is a bit beyond what I'd be comfortable with!! Shame if they've not got a service/debug port
I was looking at it, but that's the receiving end, and I am willing to bet it connects to something. like thunderbolt peripherals., but I have not looked at a board like this.
Dam BGA type chips!!! That's me, my soic clip and interface connector left on the side lines lol... Removing and soldering wires to a BGA type chip is beyond me
Would need something like a 2 way soic clip...as you can just see the pads where the connections are made, maybe a clip that grips the top and bottom of the chip to keep the clip in place, then the secondary clip that slides pins just under/onto the pads for connection (if you know what I mean)...so if anyone's able to knock something like that up, job done
It is a QFN fast.flow, but still sucks. i think there have to be a group of pads or a port that connects to it because apple has to do ISP and tests. If for some odd reason there is not I can assume that we could look for an alternate custom solution with a 3d printed clip.

They are not to bad to solder..but i don't see any available for purchase preprogrammed on ebay.
The picture attached shows a 2015 model with a SOP 8-Pin BIOS but think they have changed it to a 8 pin QFN...if you look above it programming port solder pads with missing port. ?
