Machine is MBPR late 2013 A1502 EMC 2678, 2.4ghz I7 I think.
I'm unable to flash with EFIDL, I've looked at the pin out and using 4.0.2 clip.
Tried all 4 combinations with Magsafe and battery. No power, both in, just magsafe, and just battery.
EFIDL just scans, flashing the yellow light and does not detect. I've noticed the machine will always turn on after I take the clip off.
Thanks! According to EFIDL LED codes It was able to clear the EFI (slow green flash) on Magsafe and Battery, and with no battery but magsafe in.
However, I still get flashing file when booting to OS and password prompt with ALT boot. I have done SMC reset and power cycle. Although what is odd is I cannot
do a NVRAM reset for some reason, I hold the keys and the second chime never kicks in.
Did not see a 820-xxxxx under the SSD. will look under the board when I can
Edit: After some searching/googling I'm also unable to enter single user mode and reset nvram that way. Wondering if there is a way to mount this mac via thunderbolt cable to another mac and reset nvram from that one
Well. I can no longer try that as my EFIDL is not displaying LED's anymore haha. Was trying it on another machine, it was showing the slow green flash and now no lights are displayed when plugged into power supply. Is there anything I can do to fix this? I'm not sure what the issue was. The machine was definitely turned off.
OK so there is a 3.3v connection between VCC and GND.
Not sure what the issue is. I've also notice the external battery pack rings a high pitch when I connect it to EFIDL, it did not before.
Is this some how connected? Almost 90% sure I did not hit the kill switch, if that is the case what can be done to save me?
we can reprogram your device over a remote session if you've self destructed.
do you always use a battery pack? i would recommend testing with a power brick, and use your multi-meter to test the LED while it should be identifying
Ok great! I'm wondering if maybe just the LED went out? I do normally use a battery pack for mobility, plugged it into a brick in the wall and I'm still getting 3.3v between vcc and gnd. Not sure how to use the multi-meter to check the LED, but I just probed it the was fluxuating from .8-3v
Also not sure if it is related, but the led on my EFIDL came bent to the board, I guess from shipping but it has worked fine up until now
Depending on the sophistication of your battery pack, I don't know what to think of it (-:
If you're getting the same result from the power brick, I suppose it's fine to troubleshoot on battery power but I do prefer to eliminate all variables.
If you're seeing voltage go high/low on the led, tats probably it strobing on/off during the identify phase.
Was your efidL purchased assembled or did you buy the DIY kit?
We assemble the unit with the led bent down to the board so that it fits neatly in the compact case (sold separately)
I would inspect the legs for any short and also confirm the resistor values
Yes I bought it assembled. Alright I'll try that, and perhaps try to see if I can unlock and EFI's without the LED.
How would I fix it is it is a short?
EFIDL plugged in
There is 3.3v between Red and Black arrow
Red and top 1: fluctuates from .8 to 357
Red and top 2: fluctuates the same as 1
Red and top 3: -220mV I think
EFIDL unplugged
left resistor: 220
middle resistor: 218
right resistor: 217
Assume since these are supposed to be at 220 that these are alright?
