I have a similar programmer from ebay, not this Sofi but the TL866. It can read chips and erase chips. Well, read them if they are disconnected from the logic board. The ones soldered can't read them properly, and can't write them fully, it gets stuck at 20-30% all the time.

I tried downloading the latest version of the software, updated the programmer firmware... tried different usb cables... when connecting the logic board to energy, it works better, but still not properly unfortunately. I' gonna have to buy a rasperry pi i think...

Try this,
remove the logicboard from its shell
attache the powercable, power on the mac wait about 1 minute (write protect will disable)
then shut down the mac but let the powercable attached.
then attached the soic clip and try to program

Hey man, you saved my life!!!!!!! Your tip worked like a charm!!

Problem was that this mac mini, I fucked up the efi already, with a non sucessfull re-programming that was interrupted, so now the machine was powering on by itself, just connecting the electricity plug. So I was trying to reprogram with the machine connected and also on!! I turned it off pressing the button a few seconds, led went off finally, connected the clip, erase, program, test the machine, and it worked!!!! I did 2 pram reset in the first test already, just in case.

Thank you so much for the advice on how to actually make use of the Sofi!!!! I've had this thing for months and the best I could use it for was a couple of Windows laptops! I've tried using it on a pretty decent handful of MacBooks and I always have come up with the same error saying something about the voltage being an issue. Of course, searching online for any type of help for this exact model has proven futile with every attempt, especially trying to use the manufacturers website since the majority of it is in an entirely different language... Please correct me if I'm wrong, the steps to follow in order to get the Sofi SP8 to work correctly are: remove logic board, connect power, turn on for 1 minute, turn off and keep power connected, attempt chip modifications? I would really like to be able to use this programmer because the interface is pretty easy to use but with that continuous error I've long since switched to using a Raspberry Pi.

I found the solution , simply turn off the MACBOOK AIR .
Then you must turn on the MAC and press : Commande (⌘), Option, P et R

wait for the mac Rebout several times (3 times)
