fun facts for non-EFI related apple repairs

just a few fun things i've learned recently:

you can place a MacBook pro superdrive in an iMac. simply cut off the two slot-side retainers, and use the existing side mounts to install the drive in the iMac bracket. the MacBook superdrive is thinner than the iMac, so it's tough to get the side screws in (they go in at an angle) but the bracket is plastic and can take a little stress. just did it on a 2011 27" iMac.

these batteries are interchangeable! despite apple's efforts.

the older 2009-2010 A1321 has a smaller plug than the 2011+ battery
the battery pinouts are simply reversed polarity:

i currently am charging an A1321 in a 2011 quad core mbp15. the A1321 has the smaller of the two plugs, so it dropped right in.

I am in need of a A1582 battery for the 1502 early 2015 macbook pro 13" retina
Do you know if the same or similar hold true for the A1493 2013/14 battery?
looking for a cheaper alternative in checking a no charge no run off battery problem.
The battery reports normal
