Firmware was created by ABC882
I posted this also on Hackmac but it probably fits here better as it has nothing to do with macs.
I have been kind of reading the threads in the firmware sections of this forum and HM and doing a little research on my own and there was something I wanted to try. I have some regular panasonic wireless home phones that have some "features" I don't really like and was hoping it would be possible for me to change the code. My main problem is that whenever you scroll through the caller ID, the phone automatically pauses for about a second between each one, no matter how many times you push the button. I did notice that with this particular phone you can put it into "technician mode," giving me the option to "Read EEP," "Write EEP," or see the version number. If you pick any of those it lets you either see the value in one particular location or write the value to that location - you can't export it to a micro sd card or anything. Could I just change a couple bytes here easily or maybe use the bp to take the firmware to my computer and decompile it? I doubt they cared a lot about security when they made the phone.

Thanks,
ABC

Is this a cordless home phone or what? If it is then you can use JTAG more than likely to read it and then you can disassemble it. Hopefully find the instruction for the wait sequence when navigating and change it. The problem is that the engineers who made it likely had an issue with it freezing up when scrolling too fast so they limited it on purpose. Worth a try though!

Check this out first and take that phone apart to see if it has JTAG... Which I am sure it does.

Okay, I took a look and it has two chips(that look important). One is a DSP DCX79PC21BES3ANC and the other is: www.alldatasheet.com/view.jsp?Searchword=24C32F

It does not, however, have the extra letters on the end. It is labled in two lines, the first line is: 24C32F and the second is: S36006

Yes it does. Ill buy the BP as soon as I can get clearance from the finance department, which may take up to my next birthday. I've been looking around (maybe I just don't know what to search for) for how to hook it up but I can't find anything. They just say to google it and googleing gives me more people saying google it. Panasonic does not appear to have any documentation on this particular model.

I also looked for the material for that model and found nothing to do with a service mode. you could actually edit from the service mode but you have no clue where to edit which is the issue. So at the very least you need to dump it. What finance department? Parents :) I have a BP I could send you if you promise to give it back..

I know but I don't really care about speed as I am only planning to do this once. I would rather have the ability to try it with other stuff too, not just jtag.

The BP will work with jtag though, right? It is just slow?

Someone pointed out the hex color before - it was't intentional. Just the first 3 letters of the alphabet and then a number I somehow came up with. I should make that the background of my avatar though.

Okay, I got the BP. Now how would I figure out the voltage to use?
