Hi, i bought a Macbook pro online and everything was working fine. I go home and hook it up to my wifi and its block. I had bought a stolen laptop. I considered taking it to apple but thats just gonna look real sketchy. So i am a blank slate pretty much in the world of having and everything involved. So i need help on how to get past the 4 digit code. Thank you
If your Mac was working when you bought it and then it just brings you to a pin lock after you connected it to the internet it means it has been stolen or just locked by the owner. Sometimes they lock when they are removed from the iCloud account which is just here say as I have not tested.
What you need to do is fully start over by resetting the EFI password and by erasing the entire hard drive and formatting it. And ultimately re-installing the operating system.
Step 1 - You need to bypass the EFI password by either using the brute force method (which can work in your case if what you said above is accurate.) This involves hooking up a teensy with a LCD and the right sketch to iterate through all 10,000 combinations of 4 digit numbers. This will bypass the EFI password AND show you the pin. You can then use the pin at the operating system level really and go on with your day. BUT Why not just start from scratch and do a reinstall?
Take step one and run with it (USE GOOGLE) and please use this thread to ask questions and update the community of your progress.
NOTE: I said use a Teensy Arduino board WITH an LED display. Any display really... It will be imperative for you to be able to view the pin after its bypassed in case you need it again or just want in the OS afterwards. This approach will only work if it has been locked from the iCloud which seems to be your case.
Thanks for the Help! what board should i get Teensy 2.0, Teensy++ 2.0, Teensy 3.0, or Teensy 3.1 They are roughly the same price. Id like to get one that is the most versatile.
I don't know off the top of my head. My initial reaction would be to buy the latest one. Whatever one you buy you need to make sure you can attache a LCD to it. The coding may be out there but have fun and do it yourself I say
Now there are other options if you are creative. Like maybe when the key is found it constantly flashes an LED in Morse code of what the pin is separated by a long lit segment.
hahaha thanks a lot i'll order it now and reply when i do. Time to explore more of this website, i juts might be interested in other stuff in here but it looks kinda difficult.
The pin-out is right there on the LCD screen page, in the link above. Also I know recently in reference we said LCD. But when I told you what to bu I said LED not LCD. It will be more difficult to program this. But its still possible. Please follow the link and run wires from the correct pins on the teensy to the LCD.
Hey Man i just thought of something, I'm finding it difficult to add the display now so i came up with another idea.
after some research i found out that the board will test out 3 combinations in about 1 minute
but because i have no display even when it reaches the password i won't see what it is so i came up with this. This example is testing out that it ran for 43 hours.
3 Combinations = 60 Seconds
X combinations = 154800 Seconds
Solve for X and you get 7740 combinations. So i will arrange all the possible 10000 combinations for 0000 to 9999 then check it out and try that code. give or take 3 codes before and after the combinations
before i try this do have to do anything to my teensy 3.1? or it will automatically start doing the password thing on it one i enter the command R page?
Did you upload the sketch? also great work thinking outside of the box! or did you get that from another forum. Also how will you know how long it ran for???
what sketch?? is that what makes the board try out the possible combinations?
if not how do i make the board work?
do i need a software? i use a macbook but if i need a windows pc i can get one
i thought of it myself, that is proving to be tricky so i was thinking of just being around the area because i have a very long flight and lay over coming up soon
The teensy has to be programmed to do the brute force, all it is right now is an empty shell awaiting your commands. You have to actually program it. Or you can use OrvTechs code from
HERE
.
ok i see that, but the question that i have that i really need an answer is how
i have no prior experience to programming anything at all. i have no idea what the teensy board is, i have no idea how to do anything.
i just want to unlock the stolen computer that i bought. so if you could lease explain how i would put this brute force on my board i would appreciate it. Dumb is down as much as possible please.
if thats not possible where can i buy a board that already has the brute configured on it, so all i do is plug it in and it runs the possible codes until it unlocks it.
I think knox is the guy who emailed me asking about the teensy. The problem is knox, brute forcing your mac may not always work. You are welcome to give it a try but I want you to be able to do this yourself. So I need you to either send me your teensy and I can load the sketch onto it or actually read how the teensy works and how to upload a sketch and I can help you to load it on there.
