Hi All! So, I have a Lenovo T460s with activated computrace with I want to disable. I've been thinking along the lines of either:

1 removing the option roms/efi/dxe/whatnot for computrace modules from dump and reflashing it

2 changing the nvram or other stored variable which manages computrace state (possibly in TPM?)

3 editing or removing only one of the modules so it fails (in case there are integrity checks or signed things that would keep me from just ripping it out, can I just break it lol)

So, I've already dumped the chip. I tried using the UEFITool to remove all 4 modules with computrace in the name, but reflashing that dump gave me a brick that beeps five times and turns off. Restoring the original returned the machine to working order....

So, I'm going to try removing just one module ( there are 4 with computrace in the names, so if i try removing just one but leaving others... maybe?)

I need to know what the VFT and the _FIT_ and all these other tables are. Can anyone point me to a good resource for a quick study?

I've attached the locked dump. The system is unlocked; no supervisor password. Its activated, so you can't disable it in bios setup screens. Perhaps the bios setup rom would lead to where it is stored?

Let me what you're thinking guys...

oops, here it is
had to zip it...

opening with uefitool finds errors:
'Parsefit: invalid FIT table checksum 7Fh should be 1Fh
FIT table candidate found, but not referenced from the last VTF
real FIT table found at physical address FFEB0000h

I fixed the checksum using HxD editor and flashed and it booted sucessfully..
As i said, the first dump with the 4 modules removed wouldn't boot, so hopefully if the checksum was an issue after ripping out the 4 modules, it won't be now.

So where can I find a list of all the tables (and what they refer to). So that I can manipulate it

I think finding the setup menu and locating where the variables which hold the settings present there is good start - but doubt solution is that easy

Do you have ubu tools, the MMtool (designed for ami but still works with phoenix) can generate a report - if you remove the SMM for the computrace that should kill it - or extract the module and FF or zero fill it

The report from your bios

I think the computrace and the svp bios password are stored in mec 1633L chip and not your bios chip.
so you must program the mec 1633L chip with a new dump.

Yes, I think you are correct. It looks I might be able to access it using jtag programmer. Or Vertyanov programmer, which might be a handy addition to the workbench.

I'd like to get a hold of an allservice patched bios... Anybody have a dump? Curious how adding modules works. And finding checksums.

@Flash22: yes, I was able to get a little more info from the MMtool; thanks!
